The UN General Assembly adopts a resolution demanding “Israel” to withdraw from the occupied Golan, and also the Syrian delegate confirms that Syria’s sovereign right on the Golan is not subject to negotiation.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding “Israel” to withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
The resolution demands “Israel” to leave all the occupied Syrian territory in the Golan until the line of the fourth of June 1967,
in implementation of the UN Security Council resolution. The General Assembly considered the decision of “Israel” of 14 December 1981,
which extended its rule and imposed its laws in the occupied Golan, null and also void.
Ninety-one States voted in favor, nine rejected and also 65 abstained.
For his part, the acting Chargé d’affaires of the Permanent Mission of Syria to the United Nations, Louay Falouh,
stressed that “Syria’s sovereign right over the occupied Syrian Golan until the line of June 4,
1967 is not subject to negotiation or concession, and also can never fall into limitation.”
Falouh said in a statement that the Assembly “in this position fully consistent with the position expressed by the Security Council
through the unanimous adoption of resolution No. 497 of 1981 on the occupied Syrian Golan.”
“We have recently witnessed a series of unilateral provocative acts,
which are trying to exploit the inability of the international community to implement its resolutions on Israel,” he said,
in addition to that this was reflected in the US administration’s declaration of occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel
and also then its declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan. Israeli settlements are not contrary to international law. “
